Best. Weekend. Ever.

Krewe of Rocckus and BTE beads

Krewe of Rocckus and BTE beads

Yes,  you heard me. Next to my wedding and Ava’s birth, I do believe that I have never had as much fun as I did this past weekend. Oh my gawd it was incredible. We spent Mardi Gras with the world’s most friendly band – Better Than Ezra. There’s a reason these guys have been around so long. They love their fans. They are approachable. And they throw an awesome party.

The innaugural Krewe of Rocckus event flowed smoothly over three nights of fun, food and music down in New Orleans. People came from all over the U.S. and three Canadian provinces. We were treated to two private parties, a brunch and two House of Blues shows, one on Friday night and one on Saturday night. They both rocked hard! These guys love playing at home and it shows.

We also got to see a couple of parades, too. There was the Krewe of Muses – an all female parade and another great parade on Saturday, but the name escapes me. I’ve been to Mardi Gras before, but barely remember the one parade I saw then. I swear that it is not alcohol-realted memory loss…

Everyone was incredibly nice and so much fun to hang with. All of the guys in the band came to every private event and hung out with the fans. That is why we love them.

I think the best part of the entire weekend was the people. We made tons of new friends and I hope to be able to stay in touch with all of them. I know my post doesn’t do this trip the justice it deserves, but I’m so exhausted. Staying up until 3 a.m. for three nights in a row is pretty killer. I feel like I’ve been run over by a truck – an awesome truck. And I can’t wait to do it all over again next year.

Rock on,

Your weekend sounds fabulous! If I was going to feel like I was run over by a truck I’d want it to be a truck of awesomeness too- it makes it worth it. Those beads are pretty awesome themselves, and I’ve never celebrated Mardi Gras or been to New Orleans but I definately am interested in doing so one day. Very cool post.

Hey Lydia! You should come to the next Krewe of Rocckus weekend in 2012. I don’t know how these guys will top this year, but I’m sure they’ll manage to somehow.
