After two years of sitting at a tiny table and drinking water out of small plastic tea cups, I decided it was time to introduce my sweet Ava to real tea parties. Well, as real as you can have at our kitchen table.
We made the cupcakes and frosting ourselves. She’s a great baker, that little 4 year old. And when she isn’t stealing bites of ingredients (including flour!?) she actually helps me measure and mix. The crazy thing is that she hates chocolate. I’m still not 100% sure this kid is mine.
To make the event all proper and shit, I even busted out the cute Portuguese china with the little bunny pattern. While I’m not a fan of bunnies, I do have a BFF who was freakishly obsessed with them once. I rescued the tea set from her garage sale pile. Ava loved it and asked me why she was forced to use the crappy plastic stuff all these years.
Amazingly, she wasn’t too interested in the tea itself, even after a whole Stevia packet. But, she ate that cupcake like a refugee.
She couldn’t have been happier. Nor more tweaked out on sugar.
After about 15 minutes of running around the kitchen like a bunny out of hell, she chilled. All this was after only half a cupcake. I’d hate to see what a whole one would do to her. Maybe I’ll bake some more when grandma comes to stay with her next month.
In the end, we had a great time. I love my little munchkin and can’t wait until we can sip a good zinfandel together. I’ll wait until she is 18, we aren’t French you know.

Lol, I’m still laughing over “ate that cupcake like a refuge”, and also you’ve inspired me- I’ve been hiding from some leftover chocolate cupcakes all morning. What’s wrong with me? Tea party time. 🙂
Hi Lydia! Did you have that tea party? Did you share? 🙂
Awesome post! She’s adorable, and those cupcakes look delicious!
Thanks Heather! That little girl is my heart and soul. The cupcakes were pretty sweet, too.
What great shots!
Thanks Jana! She’s such a fun little model.
