I’m not one to make solid commitments. Except to marriage and family. Well, to my second marriage at least …
Anywhoo, who would have thought that Miss Non-Commitment could devote two entire years to a hobby? That’s a lot of days. And a lot of things have transpired since January 8, 2011.
I went back and revisited my first blog and my one year anniversary blog today. I had some pretty lofty goals in both. For the most part, I’ve accomplished these goals.
Back in that first one, I said I would turn 35 that year. I didn’t – I turned 36. Math is hard. I’m turning the big 3-8 this year. Gah! But that first blog was short and sweet and a nice kick-off to what has been a great two years.
In my first anniversary post, I recapped the year and made predictions. I said I’d complete my master’s degree, and I did in May of last year. But, to my dismay, nobody calls me Master as I had hoped. Although my bestie did get me a kick-ass beer mug with that title.
I had hoped to work on marketing Whimsy Girls more. I didn’t. That damn master’s degree and finishing my never published children’s book took over my life for several months.
Maybe my biggest accomplishment was getting Ava off to kindergarten. She absolutely loves it and she is doing so well in her class. Her best friends are twins: a boy and a girl. The three of them are just awesome together and I’m glad she found her own little tribe.
But, the best part of this two-year journey has been the progress I have made. I’ve made several friends through social media this past year, mostly on Twitter, and finally signed up for my first blog conference: BlissDom ’13. I’m now getting more involved in a Houston Bloggers group and can’t wait to see where that takes me.
This is going to be a big year for me and for our family. I’m going to build on the momentum from the past two years and blow 2013?s mind. Get ready.
