Like most average super moms, I take on too much at one time. With this overload of projects often comes a lack of quality. I try really hard, I really do, but sometimes good enough is just that.
Now, with my children’s book project, I don’t want to do enough just to get a decent grade. I want this to be fantastic. The storyline is cute, the writing is interesting and my drawings so far are some of the best I’ve done. There’s even a market for books like mine. I mean, encouraging girls to pursue their dreams is a wonderful gift to give. I could make this into something big.
But I do find myself hitting some roadblocks. It’s my fear of failure that makes it hard to press on. If I don’t try that hard, I won’t be as disappointed when it fails, right? Wrong, I’ll be devastated.
Luckily, most of my friends and family are extremely supportive. They give me kudos for the work I’ve done and promise many purchased books in the future.
Then there are the others. The ones who say, just get it done. Get your grade and finish your degree. Don’t stress out over a school project.
While I would love to take the easy road, I can’t with this project. It means too much to me to just do enough. I want to be successful at something for once. And I can do this, I know I can.

Hey, Sean, add me to the list as a future purchaser of your book! I’m sure it’ll be great! Also, I understand your desire to make your book the best it can be, but we have a saying that we follow in my org that you can keep in mind, “Better is the enemy of Good Enough.”
Hey Mike! Thanks for stopping by the blog. I love that motto!!!
I’m with you! Something that takes hard work and dedication makes you feel so much more satisfaction in the end.
And guess what? There are a lot of bad books out there. So let that make you feel better because I’m sure you can rumble with the best of them.
