Something is bothering me today and I just need to put it out there. My little girl goes to pre-school. The kids in her class are all very sweet and everyone seems to get along great. But I’ve noticed something that makes me a little sad. When there is a dress up day or a party or any activity that requires input from parents, only about half the kids participate. Even on pajama day! How hard is it to put your kid in pajamas? I mean, you don’t even have to dress them in the morning, just keep them in their pjs and drive them to school.
My intent isn’t to pass judgement, I just feel for these little kids that can’t do what the other kids are doing. I’ve been there, we were just too poor to buy anything extra when I was little. I know firsthand how it feels to watch the other kids have fun making a craft or getting their photos taken in their costumes when I didn’t have the right things to participate.
So, instead of complaining about it, I’m being proactive. Every time we are asked to bring something in to the class, whether it’s and egg carton or a green tshirt, I bring a spare. Just in case someone else’s parent forgot or just didn’t have the time that day. It’s the least I can do.

That’s awesome. Love it.
That is very sweet of you to bring in extra. I try to do that also, especially when the teacher is asking for money.
That’s nice of you, because I often forget to do those things! Ah! I feel so bad when that happens. Anyway, I usually do make sure to rectify it, but there could be a day I’d be super grateful for a woman like you.
I don’t always remember the spares, but I make a very concerted effort.
