Chillin’ like a villain … from a Barbie movie.

Oct 16, 2011 · by Sean

I had the best time with Ava today. I’ve been travelling, working and trying to close on a house and I feel like I’ve just not spent enough time with her lately. But really, is there ever enough time with our kids?

On Thursday, I saw her standing in the kitchen and I could see her entire head above the island. Her ENTIRE head. She’s only four. Not only that, but while I was in Vegas for my girls’ trip, she lost her first tooth. She’s only four. I was so heartbroken to have missed that milestone. Luckily, CW handled it very nicely, complete with a note from the Tooth Fairy herself reemphasizing the importance of brushing. I love him.

So today, we spent the morning packing for our upcoming move. Rather than yelling at Ava to get out of our way, we tried to find jobs for her. She packed a large box full of hats and wigs for us. She also helped with some of the laundry. To keep her occupied after her jobs were done, I made her a snuggly spot behind my rack of shirts, got her a few books, turned on her flashlight and let her read books while I packed. Finding something to occupy her time while we did what we needed to do was an enormous help. It also cut down on the yelling. There has been a lot of yelling in our house lately…

We put sunglasses on our three-legged cat, Larry.

Later, we had a picnic in the backyard and watched the Airshow that was going on at Ellington Field. I’m not a huge fan of planes, but it was really cool to see this from our yard. The coolest part was all three of us hanging out in the beautiful weather outside together. This rarely happens. With CW’s work schedule, school, activities, etc. we just don’t have or take the time we should to do these things.

Ava's sheer excitement for raw cookie dough.

We capped the afternoon off with baking cookies. I’ve had Ava baking with me since birth. She’s getting really good at it and seems to enjoy it so far. Well, I think she mostly likes tasting the dough and the chocolate chips, but hey, who doesn’t?

I think she just did something bad...

And now, we are chilling on the couch watching a new Barbie movie. For the second time today.

I love this girl. I can’t wait until she’s old enough to drink wine with.

Now, go hug your kids. 🙂

I love the pictures … Ava is so cute! I’m glad y’all got to spend some quality time together and that Ava got to help with the move. I bet she was thrilled that she could help Mommy and Daddy.
