This is a bit of a rambly post. I apologize for that. I’m just trying to get into a routine of posting at least three times a week and I had nothing on my mind other than my chill weekend.
I had a great weekend. How about you?
It started off with an impromptu cookout with my new peeps. I had begun to think I was incapable of making new friends and then I lucked into meeting two super amazing chicks. I really enjoy hanging out with them and hope they are in for the long haul. I did get drunk, and it happened fast. I’ve been dieting so I hadn’t had any wine for about a week. But the culprit was an incredible wine that I will blog about on Wino Wednesday.
Saturday started slow. We had all stayed up past midnight and even Ava didn’t get up until 9 a.m. We spent the morning leisurely eating breakfast, watching cartoons and enjoying Ava’s mini-ballet recitals in the living room.
CW was off running space from 3-11 p.m. all weekend so I got lots of quality mommy-Ava time.
In the afternoon, we were off to a birthday party at one of those bouncy castle places. I made a point to wear my workout clothes (athletic bra!) mainly because I never feel comfortable bouncing in those things with the crap I usually wear in public. I jumped my ass off. And so did Ava. With 15 minutes left in the room, we retreated to a comfy corner and played dress up games on my phone.
We spent the rest of the afternoon/evening watching movies and playing.
Sunday, CW took Ava to play and probably shop at Lowe’s while I worked on my book. It was nice to have a few hours to draw and get some more content on the screen. The book is due on 1 October to my master’s advisor. With 18 illustrations left to go, I’m not so sure I’ll make it. I’m going to try, though. I can’t leave this master’s degree undone because I’m too lazy to finish this book. It’s cute, albeit a bit of a stretch plot-wise.
After CW ran off to do space station things, Ava and I hit the pool for a couple of hours. And then we saw ‘Winnie the Pooh’ at the theater. I recommend it if you have little ones that aren’t quite ready for the scariness of most Disney productions.
I capped off this chill weekend with a visit from a friend I hadn’t seen in about a month or so. We have both been travelling for work and just kept missing each other. It was nice to have a glass of wine on the patio and catch up a bit while Ava had a tea party in her tree house.
I can’t wait to do it all again next weekend.
We love you and we are in it for the long haul. Xo
Sounds like a great weekend. Glad to hear you made some friends near you. Keep going on that book. You can finish it in time.
