One of my favorite things about wine (besides its boozey goodness) is how it brings people together. And I guess, too much can tear people apart, but we won’t discuss that here.
People host wine parties, wine tastings and wine dinners at their houses. When you visit someone, it is often customary to bring a bottle of wine. People celebrate occasions like weddings, anniversaries and birthdays with a good bottle of wine.
And sometimes people just celebrate life in general with one.
My lovely friend Aimee’ brought over an amazing bottle this past weekend. It was the perfect combination of my love of deep reds and my passion for human space flight. I mean, I couldn’t have asked for a better match! It was “Rocket Science” by Caldwell Vineyard out of California.
I can’t even begin to tell you how incredible this wine is, but this is a blog and that’s the whole point so I’ll try.
It smelled like wine is supposed to smell. Deep, red, fruity with a hint of spice and oak. At the first taste, I fell in love. Raspberries and chocolate with cloves and cherries. Oh my. And the finish – totally smooth. I thought about pouring my glass to the rim, but a wine this good is meant to be shared.
Not only did it taste remarkable, but the bottle is tapered to look like a rocket (genius!) and the back label – oh how awesome is that description? Read it for yourself.
So the next time you have something to celebrate, or just because, find yourself some Rocket Science. It’s about $48 a bottle so it’s not an everyday wine for most people (i.e. my wino ass), but it’s absolutely worth the investment.

Every Weds I look forward to your Wino Weds posts. This one is going on the Booze shopping list for sure!

Thanks Suz! Means a lot to me to hear you look forward to these. I try to post a few times a week, but I never miss the WW posts.
Ouch. That is expensive. But it sounds so good that I really want to try it.

It’s so worth the price!
Damn! I want some of that wine. Where do I start? Your description with raspberries, chocolate, cloves and cherries sounds delicious. Then the story on the bottle. Need I remind you Nancy is in Iran for three and a half weeks?? She can’t get home soon enough! Maybe a bottle of this wine is in order!
A bottle of wine is always in order! Get a bottle for her as a welcome home gift!
Sounds awesome. Much better than the Target cube that has filled my glass tonight. 🙂 I think this is something Husband, the scientist, might like to try …

Don’t knock the Target cubes! Have you tried Bota box? Yumm-o!
Love the wino wed posts! Did you know that there’s a wine bloggers conference? It’s actually here in Charlottesville, VA (where I live). I didn’t know until I was headed to a wine bar tonight for “book club.”
I should go there. I’d feel terribly small, but it would probably be fun!
You have a real knack for describing wines – so much so that I’m tempted to close my laptop and go pour myself a glass, even though it’s not quite time for happy hour here! 🙂
I love the recent trend in wines (and packaging in general, I guess) to include a clever description on the label. It makes the experience that much more satisfying for me.

Hi Kristen! Thanks it means a lot to hear that. Wine is something I really enjoy so it’s easy to talk about. I love it and, unless I drink too much, it loves me. And I agree that the trends in packaging make it that much more enjoyable.
This sounds great! I am not a big fan of red wines, but this sounds worth a try.
