Have you found The One? You know, that one wine that is just right every time? I found it several years ago with Blackstone Cabernet. But as my budget increased (a tiny bit) and my palate evolved, this former go-to wine just didn’t cut it anymore. Then I found 14 Hands.
Do I ever love 14 Hands. All of their reds are amazing and fit quite nicely for any occasion. I’ll even drink their Merlot, which is a stretch for me. I would never actually buy a merlot, but someone gave me this as a gift for my graduation a couple weeks back. Last night I thought I’d give it a try. I instantly fell in love.
Washington state is known for their reds and this is a perfect example of why. Soft blackberries with hints of cherries and mocha. It’s smooth and works beautifully alone. Of course, it’s not a pure merlot. It’s a blend of Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah, plus a few other red varietals thrown in for good measure. I will definitely buy this Merlot for myself, and at $12 a bottle I can afford to buy a lot!
My usual go-to 14 Hands is called Hot To Trot. A traditional red blend, this one goes fast at my house. I usually don’t share, either. Put a bendy straw in it and I’m good. Just kidding. Maybe.
